Our pigs play an important role in ecological restoration and regenerative land management. Their natural rooting and foraging behavior helps manage invasive species and create opportunities for native ecosystem restoration. Used strategically across the landscape, pigs provide a natural alternative to intensive mechanical or chemical land management.

We use pigs for certain invasive species that goats alone cannot eradicate. As pigs move through targeted areas, they help prepare the ground for renewal. In some areas, pigs will follow the goats and uproot remaining invasive species, directed by targeted feeding.

In other areas that are completely taken over by invasive species like Japanese barberry, we will use pigs before running goats through those areas. We look forward to sharing our success and progress on this pilot initiative.
